Abstract

The structure and intrinsic quality of contemporary power systems have experienced significant changes due to the exponential increase in the penetration of renewable energy sources. Today's power systems face new technical challenges due to the use of distributed generation sources based on power electronics and difficulties in ensuring their safe operation. The unpredictable increase and variability, coupled with the higher proportion of renewable sources in electricity generation, have also led to a reduction in the rotational inertia of power systems. Nowadays, weather events impose staggering economic and social costs on human societies. Despite the low probability of such events, their significant intensity and impact on the safe operation of power systems have drawn much attention to enhancing grid resilience. Portable storage systems can increase grid resilience and security against events such as power outages, load fluctuations, equipment failures, and other unforeseen incidents in the power grid. These systems, with their portability, can be quickly deployed at needed locations to supply electricity during emergencies. This article discusses various measures to enhance the resilience of the power system and identifies potential challenges for future research.
